1 John 1:4-9

4 Thus[a] we are writing these things so that[b] our[c] joy may be complete.[d]
God Is Light, So We Must Walk in the Light
5 Now[e] this is the gospel[f] message[g] we have heard from him[h] and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.[i] 6 If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking[j] in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing[k] the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses[l] us from all sin.[m] 8 If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin,[n] we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous,[o] forgiving[p] us our sins and cleansing[q] us from all unrighteousness.
